In addition to showing support for native wildlife, open
space, endangered species recovery and native habitat
protection and restoration, Association members receive
invitations to special events and advanced notice of public
tours and other recreational opportunities on the refuge,
including members-only functions.
The Association supports the refuge both philosophically
and financially. Since its inception, the Association:
- Raised nearly $100,000 to build a wildlife viewing
platform.
- Helped develop an annual Docent Training to train refuge
volunteers.
- Publishes quarterly newsletter, Stone Lakes News.
- Assists refuge staff and partners with special events
and projects.
- Manages a major endowment fund for the refuge.
